Who's In Your Corner

Hello,

I’ve been travelling cross country in the last few days to spend some time with one of my mentors and I wanted to drop in quickly to say hello to you. I’ve encountered a few frustrating moments and thought, I can’t be the only one, right?

Have you ever been frustrated while traveling? You know, when things just don’t line up as planned. Flights get delayed, you run out of gas before your destination, luggage gets lost.

Or this good one …. 🤦🏻you forget your tickets or passport and you have to return home! 🙋🏻Arghh…

On this trip, I’ve been food frustrated and have gotten a wee bit hangry 😡, you know the feeling, right? When you are hungry and irritated at the same time. Due to a few dietary restrictions, eating out is a bit tricky for me so I usually plan ahead.

But on this trip after finding a restaurant I liked, and being short on time, I thought … let’s try Uber Eats food delivery… Being in a strange city I thought this was a great option.

So, I ordered, and the estimated delivery time was 45 minutes out. You can track the little 🚗car your food is in on the Uber Eat app so I was happy to see where my food was at during the delivery process.

Well …. when the car hadn’t moved in 1 hour and the delivery estimated time had been surpassed by over an hour… I had to cancel my order, which Uber eats did do without hesitation.

Hearing my stomach grumble, I thought … I need to eat... let’s try Grubhub food delivery instead.

Long story short, when my food hadn’t arrived 3 hours after this entire food ordering process had begun, I had to cancel that order too.

And this got me thinking…. It can be really hard to trust… to trust others….to trust processes and systems…. Especially when you’ve been let down. Sometimes people just don’t deliver on their promises and this can leave us feeling frustrated, disappointed and like we just don’t have it in us to trust anymore.

I think it’s real important to have a circle of people in your corner that you DO trust and it’s doubly important to nurture those relationships.

It’s okay to tell everyone else, those not in your circle of trust ... to take a hike…

Once in a while, take inventory of who’s in your inner circle of trust and who’s not.

Relationships change over time and it’s okay to end relationships that:

· no longer nurture you
· take advantage of you
· hurt you
· are one sided in their favor
· repeatedly let you down

So , who’s in your corner?

Let me know who these fabulous people are, and remember to put energy into nurturing those relationships, and to give the other ones a boot 🥾🙅

With much love,

Karine X
